Comments
"Why do I go to this trouble? Because I don't like sanding" is the best, most honest and reasoned answer I have ever heard anyone give. Bravo, Mr. Rodel.
Finest such furniture and craftsmanship anywhere, but don't hear much about Kevin these days, last saw him at Fine Woodworking Live 2018.
This was a really helpful video. If any FW editors read these comments, I'd like to suggest that FW write an article on these types of decorative uses for gouges - textures, recesses, and other carved elements that add unique handmade details to fine furniture and decorative pieces. For example, how to work with and against the grain, when to use a mallet, how to start and stop the carvings on well-defined lines, and how to integrate a textural surface with the rest of the piece.
