Tim Coleman’s All-Time Favorite Tool
When we asked Tim to name his all-time favorite tool, we were surprised when he pulled out a rulerWhen we asked Tim, a frequent contributor, to name his all-time favorite tool, we were surprised when he pulled out a 6-in. General Metric/English ruler. That’s right, for just $5 you too can get the accuracy and convenience that a master like Tim demands… but maybe you shouldn’t use your precision measuring instruments as a scraper like Tim does.

His favorite tool is a ruler? Bet he’s never tried using a 220 volt toaster.
I agree, I have several and miss them when they are hiding in plain view. I have used it as a scraper and fingernail cleaner.
Can someone help me find one that has markings along its end? I saw it in a video on router techniques by Gary Rogowski. By setting the length of the rule on the table, one can get a very accurate reading on the height of bits and blades.
