The Society of Arts and Crafts is excited to announce that they are now accepting applications for the 2018 John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship. The award of $25,000 has been designed to help support a talented furniture artist looking to fulfill an apprenticeship, develop his/her own skills, and/or make the transition to independence.
The John D. Mineck Foundation was formed in 2007 to award charitable and educational gifts reflecting John D. Mineck’s interests and values. John was a past President of the Society of Arts and Crafts Board of Trustees. The Foundation created this Furniture Fellowship to encourage and support a young-in-career furniture artist with the financial assistance to help them succeed in their journey. Through the generosity of the Foundation, the Society of Arts and Crafts is able to award $25,000 annually to an artist who demonstrates skill and commitment to their craft.
Past winners include Fine Woodworking author Libby Schrum, (“Mid-Century Credenza” and Gallery), Jack Mauch, Annie Evelyn, Sarah Marriage (A Workshop of Our Own), Kimberly Winkle, Vivian Beer, Nick Hollibaugh, Bart Niswonger, and Will Tracey.
Applications will be accepted until August 13, 2018. For more information go to the Society of Arts and Crafts website.
