Ep 12: Door glue-up
In this episode, Mike Pekovich glues up the frame-and-panel door, using shims to keep the panel square. There is even a little drama as Mike chases a gap that many would leave, and later regret.Plus, access more than 500 video workshop episodes when you become a member

Thanks for including the mistake and the fix. Really informative to see the degree of care required to make things excellent instead of good enough. That's always the type of thing that pushes me step up my own game.
Amazed you could get that apart after that long!!
Good reminder to us all that no matter how annoying it can be it is always worth dry fitting/clamping before glue-up (Seems like every time I dry fit everything is fine and when I don't, invariably I run into problems!)
Yes, please keep showing the bits that don't go quite as planned. Firstly, it's good to know that you guys are human and secondly, because guys like me are always having to fix problems, it's extremely useful to see how it's done. It's also inspirational to see the level of perfection that Mike aspires to.
Yay Mike is mortal... but that was great and encouraging to see. Pushing perfection is fun.
I’m going to re-evaluate my clamping pressure on doors. Thx Mike!!
I agree -- it's good to see that even the pros have issues, and how to fix them
As others have said, it is extremely helpful to many of us to see a professional of Mike P's calibre find a small error, make the calculation about whether it warrants fixing, having the guts to make the correction during a glue-up, and make it work. And no visible panic! A shout out to Ben for keeping the camera rolling and to both of you for preserving that segment in the finished video.
Just to echo everyone else, thank you for leaving in the whoopsie. Glad to know Mike is human.
Was really surprised to see the last second planing not split off that bit of tenon. Freaked me out a bit seeing it start to split.
Does anyone know where Mike gets his ring pulls from? I'm almost done with this cabinet and wanted to order some. Thanks!
I believe they come from Whitechapel Ltd. Look for 81EUP5 and 81EUP3 as well as back plate 92U83
One more thanks for leaving in the issues with the glue up. It still came out great. It's encouraging to recognize issues like the ones I've had and see that a great result is nevertheless achievable.
Love this video series. Especially like episode 12.
