STL292: Tim Coleman wasn’t always great
Tim Coleman tells us about his early days in woodworking and the difficult yet rewarding choices he made on his journey.Tim Coleman makes custom furniture in the shop he built a few paces from his house in Shelburne, Mass. He’s run a one-man shop for 30 years now, since apprenticing in Seattle with Curt Minier and studying at the College of the Redwoods under James Krenov in the 1980s. Coleman’s manuscripts are as well-crafted as his cabinets, betraying his college major in creative writing at St. Lawrence University.
Every two weeks, a team of Fine Woodworking staffers answers questions from readers on Shop Talk Live, Fine Woodworking‘s biweekly podcast. Tim Colman may not have always been great but he certainly is now. His IG feed is one of my favorites and I always enjoy listening to him.
