Modeling curved and tapered legs in SketchUp
Learn how to model curved and tapered bed posts using FredoSpline extension in SketchUp.I had an e-mail from a student who took the SketchUp Fundamentals for Furniture Design course, asking how to model some curved and tapered posts for a bed he was designing. His design reminded me of the legs on the Floating Top Side Table by Alex Dolese (FWW #303, May/June 2023). Here’s the method I used and showed my student. In this process I used FredoSpline, an extension for drawing a variety of non-circular curves.
I hope you can find something useful for your own modeling here. If you have questions feel free to put them in the comments.
