As a box maker, I was intrigued by the new set of flat-top blades from Infinity Tools, designed to cut perfect box joints. As a furniture maker, I was interested in their ability to make a range of other joinery cuts as well, from square-bottomed grooves to smooth tenons. 

I’ve used stacking box-joint sets before, but those could only make fingers in a few fixed dimensions, and required that you buy both blades. Infinity offers three different blade widths—1⁄8 in., 5⁄32 in., and 1⁄4 in.—which you can buy in various combinations, with spacers included for producing a wide range of slot widths. The 5⁄32-in. and 1⁄4-in. blades are also available on their own, and the full set of blades and spacers can make a 13⁄16-in.-wide cut, allowing it to act as a full dado set as well. 

Whichever you choose, these blades will make clean cuts for box joints, rabbets, dadoes, and tenons, delivering flat bottoms and accurate widths, without the little dog ears left by standard table-saw blades.

There’s one caveat for SawStop users: SawStop does not recommend using three of these full-plate blades at once, because the brake cartridge may take longer to bring them to a stop.
