Design process
From Zach:
Hello, I wanted to ask Ashley and Bonnie what their process is for designing and coming up with ideas for building. I am someone who loves building and has an ability to see how existing pieces are made but doesn’t have the mindset or creativity to come up with my own designs. Looking for any advice or tips!

Online versus in person classes
From John:
How do in person (a la CFC) vs. remote (like Gary Rogowski’s online mastery program compare? If you can’t get to a school for an intensive, would something like the online mastery program get you close in terms of results?

Retaining knowledge
From Joe:
What’s the best way to retain the knowledge gained in a class? I took a week long joinery class and since I’m not using these methods frequently, I have to keep reteaching myself.
From the lumberyard to the shop
From Chuck:
I’d like to know from Bonnie, and Ashley if applicable; Does working at a lumber yard offer any benefits to her woodworking projects or skills on the whole other than discounts on materials and use of the milling machines onsite?
All about experience
From Ben:
How much experience would you recommend someone have before starting a long program?
Do you have any tips for getting out of a rut when you feel like you’re not progressing as fast as the others in the class?
One aspect that I miss from my college days is getting constructive criticism in an environment where everyone is in the same boat as me. I have missed it in every professional venue I’ve been in since school. Do you have any plans in place for after the program to keep up a mentorship or a group of trusted woodworkers in order to keep stretching your skills?
As mentioned on the show, both Bonnie and Ashley were working on chairs simultaneously:
