Made You Look: Sharpening jig for chisels and planes
A clever shopmade jig made with even more shopmade jigs.If you had a sneak peek into the Slack messages Ben and I share over the course of a week, (1) you’d see the word “jig” mentioned multiple times and (2) you’d have as much appreciation as we do for our copy editor, Don Burgard. (Thank you, Don!)
I really do love making and talking shop jigs, so this week’s Made You Look is right up our alley—and, hopefully, yours too. I was originally pretty envious of AllFlavor Workshop’s Proxxon bench circular saw, but after watching the entire video, I find myself admiring all of the shopmade jigs he’s used to make mostly handheld tooling even more versatile. Check out this drill press jig for a corded drill—pretty ingenious.
The little sharpening jig is really handy, and well made too. I love that it tackles multiple blade widths and angles and allows you to use sandpaper or sharpening stones, with a little modification. Free plans can be found here: https://allflavorworkshop.com/chisel-sharpening-jig/
