Cut-off brads stabilize tool holders
One or two brad nails on the back of a small tool holder block keeps them from spinning in use.
I like to hang my hand tools with small shaped blocks, which only have room for one attachment screw. To keep the blocks from spinning in use, I drive a small brad (or two) into the back of each block and then snip off the head, leaving about 1/16 in. of the brad sticking up. As I screw down the block, the brad embeds itself in the mounting surface, stabilizing the block. This clipped-brad trick works in lots of other situations where you don’t want a workpiece to shift.
