Cut-off brads stabilize tool holders
One or two brad nails on the back of a small tool holder block keeps them from spinning in use.I like to hang my hand tools with small shaped blocks, which only have room for one attachment screw. To keep the blocks from spinning in use, I drive a small brad (or two) into the back of each block and then snip off the head, leaving about 1⁄16 in. of the brad sticking up. As I screw down the block, the brad embeds itself in the mounting surface, stabilizing the block. This clipped-brad trick works in lots of other situations where you don’t want a workpiece to shift.
