Made You Look: Plane Wellness
Jamie Harpster, founder of Plane Wellness, generously provides free woodworking classes to people navigating mental and physical disabilities. One of our biggest goals at Fine Woodworking is helping to unite woodworkers with knowledge and with like-minded communities. Jamie Harpster, founder and president of Plane Wellness, is doing the same thing. His nonprofit school offers in-person and remote classes that focus on those with physical and mental disabilities. In 2024 Jamie offered 144 free seats to students in various classes, 71 of whom were veterans. His goal is to utilize the therapeutic value of working with your hands.

From our friends at Popular Woodworking: “Plane Wellness: Woodworking and Mental Health” |
Plane Wellness is hosting its first annual fundraising event, “Hand Tool Haven,” on July 19, 2025 in Pittsburgh. In addition to lots of vendors, Jamie will be there, as will Logan Wittmer from Popular Woodworking. It will be a great opportunity to shop hand tools and meet other woodworkers.
