Woodhaven - 7500 Dovetail Jig
The Woodhaven 7500 Dovetail Jig cuts half-blind dovetails using a supplied template and bearing-guided bit.The Woodhaven jig comes as a kit of parts and a manual that is three separate sheets. Most of the parts are listed and illustrated in the manual. The instructions are a bit confusing as are the references to the long part numbers. The initial assembly took 1-1/2 hours. There is no safety information included.
The jig has a number of unique and clever features. First off, the jig can be used with a handheld router, or flipped over and used on a router table. Second, the Woodhaven jig is also the only one that has a bar to support the outer edge of the router while cutting the joints. Third, the jig uses a bearing-guided bit rather than template guides. This makes it easy to install on any router regardless of its base configuration.
The jig comes with fixed side stops, so you’ll have to be exact with the width of your stock in order to get symmetrical half-pins. The large wing nuts supplied on the standard jig are nice, but the optional levered clamps would make setup faster.
