How to Make a Floating Tenon

For tenons, Lon Schleining recommends using the same material that the mortised workpieces are made of, with the grain running the same direction. He cautions to make sure the board is long enough to cut all of the tenons with plenty left over to trim the planer snipe from the ends. In this video he demonstrates the procedure for making tenons that fit.
