Andrew Finnigan was born and raised in the rural Hudson Valley of New York and continues to live and work there. His turning and woodworking skills came about from a mix of being self-taught and as an apprentice. He grew up watching his father woodwork, but wasn’t that interested early on. As a young adult his obsessive interest kicked in, and he took on as many jobs as came his way. The diversity of work, and the necessity for that work to be held to a high standard while still being profitable to produce, led him to truly understand turning and woodworking. He also credits the talented people he’s worked with. “Over my career, turning for and working with makers such as Kieran Kinsella, Johnny Poux, and Christopher Kurtz have been hugely influential. Seeing how these makers work has been invaluable.”
