Fabian Fischer credits his passion and skill with hand tools to a few happy accidents. When he and some friends bought an old timber-frame cottage in a remote part of the Italian Alps, he was forced to do the restoration work without electricity. Then when he returned home to Germany, he discovered a neighbor who had been a master in the joiners guild for 50 years. Fischer spent many days with the retired craftsman. “Felix Klipstein showed me how effective and rewarding hand-tool woodworking can be.”
