J. Peter Schlebecker meandered into a woodworking career after earning an anthropology degree from Iowa State University in 1980. Four years later, he was working as a studio furniture maker. He returned to the classroom for a master’s degree in furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design. He now lives in Camden, Maine, and teaches at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in nearby Rockport.
