Richard Raffan is a leading figure in the international woodturning community. A Fine Woodworking contributor and author of several books on the craft, Raffan began turning in 1970. After considerable success crafting a variety of utilitarian objects for gift shops and craft galleries, he began formally teaching in 1978. Since then, he has enjoyed high demand for the wide array of books and DVDs bearing his name. Raffan lives in Canberra, Australia, where after 40 years, he’s moved a bit away from the lathe, dedicating himself to the creation of small boats and other items using wood combined with found objects.
