Rob Hare doesn’t consider himself a woodworker but rather a sculptor who makes furniture. He has a master’s degree in sculpture from the University of Cincinnati, and says wood and metal are two of the many different media that he uses to create things. Even so, he never veers too far from wood because he believes it encourages people to touch and use furniture. When he isn’t making things you can find him skiing, mostly at Mad River Glenn, or sailing his 16-ft. Wayfarer wooden sloop. Hare and his wife Iza live on their farm in Rifton, N.Y.
