Willie Sandry most enjoys building furniture when he collaborates with his wife or twin teenage sons. Over the years, he says, he’s learned the value of starting a project with a detailed plan. Recently he’s been branching out into other mediums like leather upholstery and leaded glass. “When you can stand back and look at a piece of furniture and say I built that— from kiln drying my own lumber to milling, finishing, and every joint and stitch in between—you get a great sense of satisfaction.”
