Yeung Chan began working wood as a child in China, making toys, model planes, and boats. He worked for 12 years as a product engineer and a research and development manager at Metropolitan Furniture Corp. before studying under James Krenov at the College of the Redwoods. Yeung now divides his time between designing and building custom furniture, as well as making hand tools based on his own ideas. He spends much of the summer teaching at various woodworking schools, including the College of the Redwoods and Carleton College in Minnesota. At home, in Millbrae, Calif., he enjoys cooking, gardening, and drawing. Yeung is the author of Classic Joints with Power Tools (Sterling Publishing Co. Inc., 2002).
