Calvin crew up in Deerfield, NH, and graduated from The College of Wooster in 2010 with a Bachelors in Studio Art. Upon graduation he decided he wanted to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. Trained to be an Army medic, he was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. In October of that year Calvin was wounded in combat and was transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment and rehabilitation. He retired from the Army due to his injuries, and spent two and half years at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts, learning woodworking under the guidance of Phil Lowe. After completing his studies there, he met and began to apprentice with Tom McLaughlin. When he’s not helping Tom around the shop, he’s busy setting up his own shop in Canterbury, NH, where he hopes to start his own woodworking business.
