For 20 years, Jim Budlong has been teaching in the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program, made famous by its founder and longtime director James Krenov. Growing up, Budlong spent summers doing repairs and refinishing in his father’s woodworking business. After college, he spent some time restoring antiques and then attended the College of the Redwoods. After four years of woodworking on his own, he returned to the college as a teacher. Budlong (shown with his granddaughter Natalia) lives with his wife, Sue, off the grid on a 40-acre homestead near Comptche, California.
