Here at Fine Woodworking, it’s common to see lumber piled in editors’ cubicles and furniture in various stages of assembly. But when deputy art director John Tetreault joined the staff, things took a definite turn toward the funky. Tetreault loves using reclaimed lumber and oversize timbers in his work, and often throws in a joint or two of his own design. This year he is building a small timber-frame studio next to his woodshop as a place for his family to make art. When he’s not chopping large mortises in chestnut beams, you’ll find him enjoying his new favorite hobby, playing with Legos in front of the fireplace with his wife and toddler..
