Does anyone know a good source for 1″ MDF? I’m going to use it to veneer a bed I’m building. Do any of the big boxes stock this or is there somewhere else I can purchase it? Thanks.

Look up plywood in the yellow pages of a larger metropolitan are. The big boxes are going to carry the low grade products and a limited selection. I would use ultra-light MDF instead of regular MDF. About 30 % percent lighter. I would also consider using a honeycomb laminated panel but then again I have no idea what you are trying to do.
I built a bed from 1" MDF and I would never do it again. I don't know how you're going to veneer it, but I had trouble wrestling a queen size headboard into a hydraulic press, and wouldn't even think about doing it with a vacuum bag.
I also think that you get better adhesion to plywood for some reason (I have used both urea formeldahyde and catalyzed PVA for veneering). Any industrial plywood supplier should have it in stock, although if I were you I would go for 1" plywood, or go with laminating 2 sheets of 1/2" together.
Andrew,
Thanks, I appreciate the info. I think I will look into a plywood solution. I don't think I would be able to unload 1" MDF out of my truck, let alone get it into a vacuum bag before it sets up. Thanks again."He who is not busy being born, is busy dying." Bob Dylan
Pete,
Try Jasper Laminates (contact info below). If they don't have what you're looking for, they'll probably know who will.
