Dear All,
I have a Rigid 14″ bandsaw and was considering a fence. I have seen the “Kreg” & Rockler models online, but have no experience with them. I would appreciate all opinions.
Best,
John

I have the ridgid also. Just recently added the kreg fence w/ micro adjuster and 4 1/2" resaw guide. Helped me tremendously, I'm not very good w/ a bandsaw. Woodcraft had it on sale for $114 and free micro adj.
OK, cool....thanksJohn
It's very important that whatever fence you end up with that it can be adjusted at angles to the blade to compensate for drift. This becomes more important if you plan to resaw. Personally, I wanted a fence that could compensate and fasten or lock at both ends. I ended up with the Highland

That's a good point. I'm new to the band saw so I'll have to look into that. "Drift" is the natural tendency for the blade to wander in a particular direction, no matter what I do. Is that correct?John
I consider the word drift to be quite misleading. Drift or angle of cut, is probably more a by product of the angle of the blade as it leaves and enters the crown of the wheel tires and assuming the guides are setup correctly, but don't quote me on that. Actually, your setting the fence parallel to the cut of the blade and not the blade itself as you would on a table saw for example. After you've given your saw a serious tune up (Fine Woodworking by John White on line right here) the last step is aligning the fence for drift as described in the article. A side note: I considered my Rockwell/Delta bandsaw circa 40's to be nothing but a worn out stick cutter and almost sold it as such. Following the above tune up and spending a few dollars on tires, spring, guides, belt, and blade, I have a new saw that does things I never would of dreamed of.
John. I bought the Ridgid fence, installed it , de-installed it within 30 min. and bought a ?? acu-tech?? (several years ago, the grey matter is getting soft) nevertheless it's just the usual alunimium extrusions with a micro and a radiused block for resawing and works great. Paddy
I have the kreg and like it a lot. I have not bought the resaw guide yet but as I have bought some really good blades and spent some time fine tuning the saw I don't have a lot of drift. Instalation was fairly straightforward and the micro adjust is a great add on.
One more for Kreg, nice.John

John:
I put the Kreg on my Ridgid and it's very easy and accurate to use. Great instructions on mounting. Picked it up from WC with a deal on the re-saw guide. I don't have the micro-adjust. Easy to set for drift, if that's a problem for you. It isn't for me with Timberwolf blades. One nice thing is that the 90° angled aluminum fence itself can be quickly remounted for cutting/ripping narrow stock less than 1.5" in thickness.
good luck!
Roy
I've installed an older version of the Kreg on my Rigid 14" with the resaw fence. It's ok except that I have to adjust the fence to be perpendicular to the table every time I move it. The adjustment is a pain. Am I doing something wrong here?
Also, make sure you take the time to shim the mount onto the bandsaw table so the fence won't lift off the table. This took me a while to get right.
I have a Delta 14" band saw and recently installed the Kreg fence and micro adjsustment. I've been very satisfied. In fact had a few questions with the somewhat rough operation of the micro adjuster, called Kreg, and was sent a new unit. Apparently some of the knurled adjusting wheels were machined a little to large which prevented a smooth operation. I'm sold on Kreg.

I have an old, cheap, import band saw that I inherited from my father-in-law a few years back. I keep it in reasonably good shape, but was never really satisfied with the re-saw capability until I bought the Kreg fence at Woodcraft. It came with a free re-saw attachment, which I don't use because it re-saws like a dream with just the fence. No blade drift, as long as you have a good blade. My two cents.
