Last week at a local estate auction I purchased a 16” jointer made by AMERICAN WOODWORKING MACHINERY CO. This machine is in very good condition as it was used by a pattern maker. It has a double knife cutterhead with babbitt bearings that are also in vgc. The electric motor is an ac made by Wagner Electric Mfg Co. it is 110 or 220v 3hp. The most recent patent date on the motor is July 29, 1913. This jointer was 1 of a few old American made machines at this auction. Total price for this machine was 100.00 even. And yes it does run well. I know I was lucky to run across this but at times it does pay off just to go and check these situations out!! One more thing….. GO BUCKS!!!!

Awesome buy. If you haven't already found it, go to:

Thanks for the response, I do know about http://www.owwm.org/ . I would like to get a manufacture date, but haven't found the right info yet. I would guess it was made in the late teens and before 1924. My wife will hopefully post pictures tomarrow morning.
The one thing to check is the cutterhead. If it's a square one, be really careful. They were phased out because they are far more dangeropus than the round ones.
