Greetings all,
Does anyone have any thoughts/reviews on low to mid-level 16″ or wider jointers? I am thinking of moving up this year from a 14″ J/P combo. I’ve seen the specs on the Invicta, Bridgewood, Grizzly, etc. Anyone out there with experience with these or other similar models? Thanks in advance, Brian.

I would go used. I purchased a 16" Oliver for $1750 and had to have the tables ground and some minor electrical work. Ran around $500 so I was still way ahead of the game. Plenty of used iron out there so buying new for me wouldn't even be considered. I repair machines so that is my advantage. Another option is to buy used from a dealer for support if you aren't able to repair machines.
Invicta and Bridgewood are great. Even Grizzly has improved but the other two would be my first choices.
I would agree, and try to look for a used monster. If the cutterhead is in good shape, there is not much that some TLC and maybe motor replacement can't fix. If you are not intimidated by machinery, then an old jointer is a pretty good bargain.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up finding a used 16" Moak jointer coming out of a patternshop locally. Haven't moved it into the shop yet, but with a little tuning it should outlast me. Not a steal, but still half the cost of the other options I was looking at.
