1920s Solid Wood Doors, What kind of wood?
I just picked up a couple doors from a home in DeLand, FL. I wanted to identify the woods used. And wanted to identify what is on the darker door. I cleaned the area a few times and the dark color kept coming off.
Thanks in advance for any help, Jon

The second from the left looks like quartersawn fir. Maybe southern yellow pine. The dark stuff that's coming off might be faux graining. It was done very often to make a door look like a fancier wood. I had a door that I would have sworn was quartersawn white oak. Turned out it was just fancy painted pine.
The polish on these doors looks amazing! I've always dreamed of having doors like these. One day, I will be able to afford to buy a house and then I will do everything in order to make sure that the result fits my needs. I am new to woodworking so I am still learning lots of stuff. The greatest project that I've ever done was related to some patio doors that were bought from https://doorsdirect2u.co.uk/product-category/patio-doors/ and I couldn't be happier about the result. It was for a friend of mine so you can imagine that there was no room for mistakes. Thankfully, the outcome was amazing!
My house and a lot of older homes built in the 50's and 60's in FL used fir plywood for cabinets and trim moulding.
We had some georgeous plywood panelling with moulded edges.
The dark color is just the grain pattern probably end grain taking on more stain.
I was raised in DeLand, FL!!
