1953 Delta Rockwell Scroll Saw – Top Hold-down Clamp
I recently acquired this old scroll saw. I’ve had trouble getting the blade to properly clamp in the top hold-down clamp, so I took the column off to investigate. It seems like I am missing a metal tab on the right to “sandwich” the blade. I’ve had a lot of trouble keeping the blade to hold with the screw against the blade and the single tab.
Am I missing a piece, or is this how it came from the manufacturer? I have been unable to find the manual for this saw.
SN# AO 8554
Thanks for any guidance or links to a manual.

Hard lto get a sense of scale, but I would suggest a rectangular blank with a shallow blind hole drilled in it to accept the screw. It will provide a nice flat bearing surface that will not turn as you tighten the screw. Test with brass or aluminum and then make one in steel. Harden it if you can to hold up uto the blades better.
