I have an all access account. The the day I want to see in issue #73. I scrolled thru many pages and finally got to the issue I wanted to see. ( This scrolling page after page needs to be improved.) Back to my problem, I clicked on the issue but nothing happens. It appears that only one article may be available regarding making cabriole legs but nothing else. So I grabbed the CD I purchased that has archives of the magazines between 1975 to 2013. I loaded the disk which took much much longer than the messages displayed on my Mac computer. Some sort of error occured so I tried the disk in my MacBook Pro. After several minutes I gave up a quit the “Installer app”. Then a window appeared that showed many items being copied to my disk. I let that process complete and discovered a folder on my disk with the FW app and a couple of hundred pdf files. I tried to use the FW app but got warning that it needs to be upgraded for my version of MacOS (Ventura). Is there an upgraded version? I opened pub file #73 which was the issue I wanted to see so I did get to see the article I wanted. My reason for posting is FineWoodworking needs to rethink how these CDs or thumb drives can be used in the future. If I invested in the 2024 archive can I read the files in 2030?

Sounds like you bought a used DVD. I would copy the files to a few thumb drives to have back ups. The search function is garbage anyway. Quality is the last thing companies strive for 🇺🇸. Thumb drives don’t have to be upgraded do they?
No the CD was not used. The problem was with the app and the fact that it was for 32 bit OS at that time. I have the pdf files. Will probably copy them to a thumb drive.
It has nothing to do with striving for quality -sjeff70
barrie - I know this is frustrating, but we can't future-proof technology. Nobody can. Microsoft isn't supporting software from 2013, I'm not sure we have the means to. The DVD is 11 years old and worked on the systems of its day. A modern computer is 64-bit and that application was written in a 32-bit world.
You could copy the PDFs off of the DVD and that's as close to future proof as you're likely to find.
Also, if you're an unlimited member, in the main menu (top right) go to 'Digital Libraries'. Every page of every issue is there.
