I picked up an old Stanley No. 2 recently that needs some work. Best I can tell it is a type 5 or type 6 as it has features of each:
- Right hand thread on Brass Adjustment Nut and Cutter Marks from a type 5
- Round disk lateral adjustment lever from type 6
I need to make a new tote and knob for it. My problem is the front knob, bolt and brass nut are missing from the plane. The knob it came with is beaded, but it doesn’t look original. It looks like it came from a 140 (maybe?).
Since I don’t have the knob to make a template from, I thought I’d ask if anyone can provide me the dimensions for an early #2 low knob? Since the threaded rod is also missing, I would also like to know the length on it. I’m hoping I might be able to make one by cutting off the ends of a spare one?

You could always just buy one off Ebay. Finding the proper nut and threaded rod would be tough especially since they are a special thread cut.
