$20.00 for a roll of 2″ Wide Double-Sided Tape!?!

I kept seeing neat uses for Double-Sided tape. After searching online and the local big box stores with no success, I found some at a local Woodcrafters. Am I crazy or is $20.00 per roll carzy? It was the same price at Rockler.
There must be a better source at a better price. The brand was spec-Tape and I have no complaints about the quality. I also looked at 3M’s website, but did not find an accurate match.

I agree. I can't see justification for the high prices, either. Unless, perhaps, the government has ordered several billion rolls, and there is a shortage as a result.
I bought some at Home Depot. It has the brown beads of adhesive and looks like it will leave a nasty residue that's hard to get off. I'll try it on some scrap wood. I really like how the spec-tape works, I just know I'll hesitate every time I use it.

You can buy this online for 1/4 th the cost. There are apps that let you scan the bar code in the store and will show you the lowest price for any item. Both the stores you mentioned are specialty stores and prices are high.
there are different
qualities of anything out there. different qualities reflect different prices. if you want to support the Chinese buy the cheapest. if you want better adhesive qualities then I would look elsewhere

Sid, not to take the thread off to political land, but I agree for two reasons. I have a couple passions, the other being high quality audio gear and to a lessor extent than woodworking, metalurgy. Most steel and audio gear from China is substandard. I am 52 years old, so I come from an era of loving my country and having a deep desire to support it. For the most part I enjoy the challenge of shopping American. Sometimes it can be sad.
I challenge anyone to show a product from China that is high quality.
