I went to Sears today to look at the 22124 saw which has been receiving good reviews from almost everyone.
While there, I saw the 22114 and ended up feeling that it might be a better value.
The 22124 has only 1/4 more HP than the 22114 and only weighs 50 more pounds (438lbs vs 385lbs) – yet it costs $300 more.
The 22114 does not have the Biesemeyer fence but the fence it does have looked good and unlike the Biesemeyer fence, it has t-slots on the face.
Both have cast iron wings – and looked very similiar except for the fence and the back table. I imagine dust collection and vibration must be similar.
Is the 22114 a better value? And if I can get the 22114 for less than $600 isn’t that a terrific value??? (quite frankly, I was surprized by what I saw).

With several discounts and catching a good one-day sale, I was able to get the 22124 for ~$670...I couldn't pass that up.
The difference in value is really a matter of opinion of the difference in features and what they mean to you. The actual retail price you pay can also be a factor. I've seen the 22124 go for as low as $567, and the 22114 for as low as $414....both very rare prices but have happened. The typical sale prices are more like ~ $775 and $540 respectively....which are really sale prices plus another 10%.
The Biese fence is considerably more robust than the 22114's fence. Though it doesn't have t-slots, a base jig w/t-slots can easily be made that will accommodate a bunch of stuff. The 22124 also has the full cabinet vs 3/4 cabinet, but I suspect you're right about DC being about the same. The 22124 has 12" cast iron wings vs 10", and has the laminate extension table too. The Leitzs blade is also worth mentioning because it's a very good blade in it's own right, and an excellent stock blade...not sure what comes on the 22114. I believe the 22124's motor has a heftier duty rating in addition to the extra 1/4hp too.
If money were tight and I couldn't get the 22124 at a good price, but could get the 22114 at a good price, I'd probably grab the 22114 and sell the stock fence. One sold on Ebay for ~ $175 a couple of weeks ago. Then I could pick up a Shop Fox Aluma Classic or Vega fence for < $230 delivered....an exchange of ~ $55 for a good fence upgrade. I'm sure the 22114's fence is fine, but after using a GI Biese, a SF Classic, a Vega, and now a commercial Biese, it'd be tough to give up a fence of that style. That all seems like a big hassle to bring the saw up close to what the 22124 already offers, and it still isn't quite there...I'd be preparing and waiting to pounce on a sub-$700 opportunity on a 22124.

That's about the cost of the Biesemeyer fence. IMHO the 22124 is what a home shop TS should have been all along. When I bought mine in Nov ($725 delivered & 2 yr on-site service; with sale & CClub) the General contractor model was $699 pickup.
Bill I bought my 22124 back in Nov last year and have been so happy with it.
I actually went to buy the 22114, but after looking real close I took the 22124. If you look closely you will see the 114 has a LOT of plastic, especially in the fence. OTOH the 124 has that Bessie fence. That Bessie fence is a $300-350 fence by itself.
The 1/4hp is no big deal. It has a 1.2 SF so it's probably not a REAL 1 3/4hp. Doesn't matter it melts thru 8/4 oak and hickory with no problem. The blade as one other poster stated is a very good blade, though I had never heard of it until I bought the saw.
Good luck and let us know what ya get
Jimmy
as always I wish you enough
