I want to do a dull oil finish on a gunstock like a military stock so it looks great but had very little shine I have 2 coats of Formbys Tung oil on it now.
Also interested since I have trouble finding flake shellac ,why can’t I do a French polish with alcohol, pumice and liquid shellac?

#1 a french polish will give you a shiny surface, if you want a dull surface try boiled linseed oil, after a couple of coats if it to shiny for your liking you could scuff the surface with a gray 3M pad.
