3-part pic frame, easy plan needed
Hi, Folks. I want to make a picture frame for a memorial scheduled Saturday. It would be a 3-pane frame, we have 3 good pictures of our beloved sister rider. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but thought y’all might have some good ones too.
Easy joinery between the pane dividers would help. I don’t have a huge collection of router bits, but all the ogees, roundovers, coves and bevels are represented I think.
Thanks!!

What size are the photos? Have you considered having a double mat cut for a long, rectangular frame? I understand your idea to have 3 panes in a wooden frame, but my thought is to make it as simple as possible to keep the viewer's attention on the images and not on the frame. For example, if you have 3 vertical 11x14's, I'd make a frame maybe 20x45 and cut a 20x45 matboard with three openings and possibly a v-groove around all three openings to "connect" them together.

Thanks, Greg. Small pics, 5x7". I'm not equipped for mat cutting, except what I can do with a utility knife. I might check and see what's at the store with a cheap frame and use only the mat, toss the frame.
Getting this done is a bit of a longshot, just got the pics today, and a recent email saying I'd need to make two frame, not one. Hmmmmmm. Well, off to the shop to see what I can cook up.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG,
The best I can come up with is a pre-made frame from the store. The 5 x 7 size is fairly standard, mat included.
To make one I would try a cope and stick rails and stiles approach, probably not easy to do in the short time allowed.
Or copy the method of the ones available at the store if they are not the right size.

Thanks, Pete. I've decided to just buy the frames. I could probably do a single frame in the time I have, but making 2 3-pane frames is just not doable with all that's on my plate this week.
I know I've seen plans for multipicture frames in the past, but the searching I did, on the internet and in my bookcase, didn't turn them up.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
A good frame shop can custom cut a mat for you generally in quick order. Just a suggestion. It all depends on what resources you have available to you and whether you have the time to pursue it or the good fortune of someone to run the errand for you.Greg
