Hi I just got the planes for this workbench buy Garrett Hack I don’t know if I can get this to him or not. what I am wondering is what type of wood he used for each section, or what would be a good type of wood to use without breaking the bank.

I think Chris Swartz's suggestion to use 2x12 yellow pine to build benches a good one. The material is readily available and economically priced. Remember, it's a workbench, not a piece of furniture

I used Ash, which is very solid/hard and relatively cheap - $1-$2/bd ft.
I built Robert Lang's bench last year.
