Thanks to all who helped me out last time, and now I will ask advice before I get 98% done with this project. Looking for 34″-36″ drawer slides, rated at 100 or so lbs. Everywhere I look, I only see 28″ slides, Or else the super heavy-duty (heavy price) ones that are way too overkill for this project. Could a person get away with putting a 28″ slide set to the back of a 36″ cabinet, allowing one to access the entire 36″ drawer, or should I tell the client to just get 28″slides and lose the 8″ of drawer. There are seven drawers, at 22″ wide x 36″ deep x 9″ tall. Any Ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John in Potomac MT.

http://www.woodworkershardware.com has 100 lb rated full extension slides for 32". The 36" are 500 lb rated.
These are 32" or 38", sound too short or too long. The 32" would at least give you a little extra room. You could still make the drawers 36" if the customer needs storage over convenience.

These come in 36" and the price isn't too bad if you're buying more than 5 pair.

Thanks,
The 32" two way's are no longer available, but the accuride 36" should work fine, I would realy like the disconnect kind, do you know of any?
I have done similar projects with these non disconnect slides, and being able to disconnect them gives you advantages in several ways. Anyway thanks, the price is not too bad as I will need 7 pair.
Appreciate the help,
John
If someone doesn't chime in here, try over at Breaktime. They usually have more people in there everyday. You have a better chance of getting more responses, especially if you're just looking for a new source.
If you put 28" full-extension slides on a drawer which is 36" and 9" tall, most people will be just fine with it. We're accustomed to drawers which aren't full-extension. That's how older furniture is built, and people use it happily. You access the back of the drawer by kinda sliding stuff sideways as you're putting it down or getting it out.
Setting a 28" slide further back on the drawer doesn't change anything. You still only get 28" of travel.

Thanks Jamie, it now makes sense. Thinking about it, it seems like it would be weaker to set them back as well, at least when the drawer is fully extended. I might be slow, but at least I'm not very smart,
thanks,
John
