Hello – is anyone aware of a method for reversing an AC motor using a 4-way light switch? I vaguely remember something online that mentioned it, but I can’t find it now. The power supply was controlled via a different switch. Thanks.

It depends on the motor more than any thing else. They are not all wired the same. A 4 way light switch is a double pole, double throw switch. I have seen motors that would require more than that to reverse the rotation, and most motors cannot be reversed. If you cannot figure out how the wireing needs to be done by looking at the motor plate..... You might want to find someone that does. Not your local electrician. Go to a motor repair and shop ask them what to do. If they are nice they will do it for you for $20.
Pardon my spelling,
Mike
Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
