I am going to make a shooting board to do 45d miters such as picture frames and small boxes. My question is how do it keep the pieces the same length? It seems that I would need some sort of a stop but I have yet to see a board with one on it nor have I read anything concerning keeping the lengths equal.

Shoot one end of all the boards then set a stop and shoot in the other end until no more shavings are cut.

I just count strokes or shavings. However many strokes it takes to clean up one miter, I take the same number on each of the other faces. Inspect and repeat if necessary.

why not get the lion mitre trimmer with the frame extensions.....
The 45 degree downward slicing cut means that you ain't chipping out on the outside like you would with a mitre jack and a plane.
Betcha it's cheaper to boot.
