Lowes had the 2 pack of 6″ Irwin quick grip clamps for $16.98. That is better than paying $15.98 for one. Special deal hanging on the end of the clamp isle.
(I think this pic is really the 12″). I got two of them (4 clamps). A bit small, but you NEVER have too many clamps! =]

" A bit small" I use the 6" clamps quite a bit actually. Fastening things to the router table or the TS fence especially. Beats the heck out of a big ol' 12" and way more secure than the ratcheting quick clamps. That's a good price -- the best I've seen before was $19.99 at Home Depot.

Miss Jamie, I'm with ya on that. I've been buying them at BBB and BOB for same price you said for several years. Got about 20 of them. Could not operate my shop with out them. They are that "3rd hand" even 4th, 5th, 6th hand.....
Hi everyone,
Went to my local Lowes in Sterling, VA late last night - the 6" 2-packs were nowhere to be found. But the their inventory system showed 30 units of that item no. (90654) in the store. I happened to find a very nice and very helpful employee named Charles (who will be very well complimented to his general manager) who happened to know how the system worked. When I told him what the approximate dates of the promotion were, he was certain that the clamps were in a box on the top shelf of their warehouse in a place designated for stuff to be rolled out at a later date. Bear in mind, by the time he figured this out, it was 9:58, and the store closed at 10:00.
"No worries, once you're in, you've got at least 20 minutes to finish up." He then located the box, co-opted the cherry-picker operator to get it down for us, slipped the cardboard cover off, and lo and behold, there were 6 boxes of Irwin Quick-Grip 6" mini-clamps with a special sign on the box noting the free subscription to FWW with your purchase.
After thanking Charles profusely, I went to the cashier, paid for my item, and received a rebate form which instructed me to fill it in and send it to a Lowe's P.O. Box. It also said that existing subscribers would get a 1-year extension on their current subscriptions.
So, if you go to your local Lowes and they do't have the clamps on an end-cap display (they won't be with the rest of the Quick-Grips), relate my story, and they should be able to accomodate you, unless the inventory showed 0 units in stock.
Hope that helps if you get into a frustrating situation. And thanks to Jamie, or whoever it was, who alerted us to this deal. The clamps look fine for the kinds of uses Jamie described - holding jigs in place, small object work, etc. And when you consider the deal, you're either getting two free clamps with your 1-year FWW subscription, or a free subscription (by far the priciest among the WW mags) with your $20 purchase of two Quick-Grip mini-clamps. A great deal any way you look at it.
I started to wonder whether I could run the deal multiple times, but I figure Lowes will probably hold all the forms until the promotion's over in April, and then send them all to FWW, so it probably wouldn't work (what a nefarious mind I have).
Have fun,Mitch

I think it's the same clamp package, but the price on your's is a little different and you didn't mention getting the FWW subscription rebate. Maybe if you go back you can get a rebate form??
If you build it - he will come.
Dang, I'm gonna have to look at my receipt again, but I'm pretty sure it was just a standard receipt. Wonder if it messed them up that I bought two packs?

Double check the SKU nbr on your receipt against the one on the SMC thread. If it's not the same, maybe you can return your's and get the one that has the rebate. Seems kind of odd if they have the same 2-pack with more than one SKU though.
If you build it - he will come.
Wonder if this gives me an excuse to go buy another pack of them? :)

Cool. I'll check my receipt when I get home! I printed the rebate form.

I looked today and these clamps are a light duty clamp (small bar), unlike the one 6" clamp for $15.98 is a heavier clamp (heavy bar), but if you get a free subscription to FWW it still sounds like a good deal to me.
Yeah Ken, you starting to get feelings of deja vu? You'd swear you'd read this somewhere before.. ;)
As someone already noted, this is for the 6" "MINI" Irwins. Our north side Lowes didn't have them. Customer service dude wasn't real helpful, "no, I don't see them." But I happened to be on the west side of town and noticed that the west Lowes had both the 6" regulars and one pack of the mini's left.
Went ahead and picked up the minis (subscription ahoy!).
I'm happy with both deals. Added 6 clamps to the collection.
The problem is the collateral damage. Walk in there looking for a pair of clamps and walk out with the clamps PLUS 4 or 5 other things. <sigh> Almost like they planned it that way ;)jt8

I keep telling myself that I have a good number of Irwins... but when I go looking for them, I can never find more than a few of them. This stems greatly from having a sister/BIL who borrow stuff... lose it... and then borrow more stuff cuz they can't find the stuff they borrowed in the first place (haven't seen my chalkline it about a year.. and its bright yellow --ergo you'd THINK it would be easy to find).
If they ever decide to move, I'm going to have some real incentive to help them, cuz I think that's the only way I'll every see my stuff again.jt8

I'm going to Lowes tomorrow, even if my damned tendinitis will probably keep me out of the shop for another month - that's too good a deal to pass up. Thanks!Mitch

I just went to Lowes in Woburn MA and there were none on the endcap, nor was there an assigned place for them. I checked the normal isle and there was one set left lying on the floor. There was a hook for them and there was no indication anywhere of a free subscription. I took them to the cashier and sure enough the rebate reciept came out. So don't fret if there are none on the endcap and no writing to refer to the offer. But, you may not want to go to the Woburn store until they get more. Ever notice how getting the last one of something is such a cool feeling, weird.
