I’m lucky to be upgrading from a 6″ jointer and a separate bench top planer to a 16″ SCM jointer planer combo in the next week or so. I know everyone says not to get a 6″ jointer (should go with an 8″) but the machine is in excellent/good condition and was all I could afford 15-16 years ago when I was setting up shop. It has serviced me well in limited action due to various time constraints placed on me. Now that I am able to get to the shop more often, I am upgrading to the last jointer/planer I expect to buy.
I’d like to find someone who is starting out in woodworking to give this 6″ jointer as they are establishing their shop and woodworking skills. It is a ShopFox model from around 2003 or so. It works very well.
I’m located in the Hudson Valley in NY. Any ideas as how to find a new owner, please let me know. Not interested in things like Craigslist, just want to find a genuine new woodworker to help out.

Michael,
I am a 20 year military retiree and now retiring from the private sector, now starting woodworking as a hobby and maybe 3rd career. I live in Bethlehem PA. I could travel to pick up the jointer if you don't find someone local. Let me know if we can arrange a pickup.

Sorry to be so late in getting back to this. The jointer is still available if you’re still interested. Just provide an email or phone number and we can talk off-line about the pickup.
Michael,
Hello, wondering if the jointer was still available. I’m in the Hudson valley area and just acquired a home with enough space to upgrade from a bench top jointer. Financially acquiring a brand new machine is just not in my budget so I figured I would express interest, thanks for the opportunity in advance.

31 year old millennial here. Which may be a synonym for broke. New to woodworking, in about a year. And just love the whole process, problem-solving, and creativity of it all. I'm really looking for a band saw before a jointer but I also really want to get into making boxes and milling smaller stock.
I have an electric hand planer. I might be able to get to about where I want if I had a jointer. It also would make things a lot easier with just getting boards square. I love to see things like this, the pay it forward mentality.
I'm in Long Island and would be able to get up to you in the next few if needed. I know I'm late but sometimes timing and whatnot doesn't work out well. I'd love to take this off your hands though.
Reach me by email at [email protected] or reply to the comment.
Be well,
