Hi everyone, it’s been a long time since i posted. Last time i was here i mentioned i wanted to make a wooden plane, well it’s turned out several were made and several more are on their way.
My first handplane was a walnut bodied/padauk soled jack plane with a recycled japanese blade.

The second one is again a walnut body but with a hickory sole with an O1 blade. The bed angle is 50° and the body was filled with lead insert to add a bit of momentum to the plane. A side effect of the lead inserts is that the wood seems more stable. The front knob was made on the drill press with a block plane, rasps, files and sandpaper. The tote was modelled after a lie-nielsen one and fits my hand perfectly.

The third one is a really small spoon plane/instrument makers plane i made for hollowing a drum i’m working on.

At the moment i’m working on some more small planes, 3 little block planes bedden at 40° for a drum building workshop i’m giving. Pictures when fininshed.

Very nice! The only thing that beats the sight and sound of 1/1000s thick perfect ribbons of wood coming out of a plane is when it is coming out of a plane you made yourself. No wonder it's been a long time since your last post, you've been in the shop actually working while we were here blabbing.
