Just got my new toy all set up and running. I bought a almost new used only once Delta 16 1/2″ drill press. The sale price was a total of $175.00 CDN. To make the best of it I even sold my old 10″ for $75.00 so I guess the total was only $100.00.

Good deal!..I have the exact same model. 2 things, replace the on/off switch with a light switch. If not now you will later, I made a new coverplate as well..weak link that switch. Put on link belts for much smoother ride.
oh yeah, if the chuck falls out (sooner or later it will) wipe off the grease both from the MT hole, and quill adapter..and rub them with chalk. Great Drill Press, you will not be sorry.
I had the same problem with my old drill presses chuck. I took steps to ensure that it didn't happen again. As for the switches Delta must be make a killing of the discount switches they install on there tools. I have had several go in the last few years. I replaced most of mine with a heavy duty metal toggle switch rate for the machines they are installed on. I can remember a buddy who had small magnetic switches on must of his equipment. Not sure where he found them to. Will have to look into that.Scott C. Frankland
