I recently read the article entitled A Durable Exterior Finish by Sean Clarke and he recommended purchasing a product called: MultiWoodPrime (also called Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer by Smith and Company as well as Epiphanes, a Marine Spar varnish. I purchased both of these products and I will be using them on a round top for a wine barrel that we keep outside on a patio. I made the top out of leftover teak flooring that we had installed in our home. My question is when applying the epoxy, since I cannot apply on both the top and bottom at the same time should I wait until the top is dry and then do the bottom or should I apply multiple coats on the top and then when they are dry apply multiple coats to the bottom. Obviously the same question for the marine spar varnish Epiphanes.

Buzzsaw,
Do your epoxy step one side at a time and then proceed to the varnish. If it were me, I'd do all my coats on one side, let it cure a bit and then flip it over and do the other side.
