This won’t be of interest to everyone but I know there are some Greene & Greene fans here.
My new book, Greene & Greene Furniture – Poems of Wood & Light, will be out in September and is available now for pre-order. The focus of the book is the details that helped define what we know as the Greene & Greene style and the influences that helped the Greenes develop that style. There are nearly 150 new photos including some that show pieces that aren’t very well known. For more information and a small gallery of images, you can have a look at my website:

Thank you.

Do you need an unbiased review?
Hey David:
Instead of mailing Derek a copy for review how about sending it to me? I love Greene and Greene Furniture. I'll be more than happy to read it and post an unbiased review. Or, it you prefer, I'll display it at the Lie-Nielsen Hand Tool Event being held at Peach State Lumber in Kennesaw, GA on May 7th and 8th. I'll be helping out at the Woodcraft table both days. Either way, I should be able to boost sales by at least a book or two.

P.S.: Sarge, please stop by and introduce yourself. I've been wanting to meet you for awhile, but we have never been at the same woodworking events at the same time. I'll be the grey haired bald guy who's boring everyone to death.
thanks for the offer
I appreciate the review offer. Unfortunately, I don't yet have copies in hand. The book doesn't come out until September -- we're accepting pre-orders now (I started accepting pre-orders because the big retailers did). Please feel free to mention the book and website to anyone you know who might be interested. Thanks.
Did you notice the contest on the website?
David
david,
great looking stuff on your site. did you happen to catch the greene bros show at the huntington last year? i noticed many of the pieces in that show for the first time.
as far as i am concerned another greene and greene book is always welcome. thanks for posting.

Great show
eef,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I did catch that show. Fantastic. Ted Bosley and Anne Mallek did a great job putting it all together. After the Huntington, the show traveled to Washington DC and to Boston. I saw it in both of those places as well (it's a bit involved). Each venue had a slightly different take on things but the overall effect was wonderful in all three.

G&G books
That's good news, David. Any new book on Greene and Greene is welcome, and good ones (which your's appears it will be) even more so.
I also liked your Web pages about the book. On the Table of Contents page, a brief description of what each section/chapter covers might be helpful in generating more interest in the book.
FWIW, I'm not among those who would pre-order a book, notwithstanding the appeal the topic might have. Pre-ordering a book strikes me as being somewhat akin to pre-voting for a political candidate before the candidate has had a chance to make promises that aren't likely to be kept. ;-)
I do, however, hope the book is a great success for you, and will anxiously await its arrival.
Thanks for your comments Ralph. The website is evolving. Soon there will be a couple sample pages. I'll think about your suggestion of annotating the table of contents. It's a good idea if I can find a way to make it look good.
As for pre-orders, I don't typically do so either. Honestly, I made it available for pre-order because Amazon and the other online retailers did. And to be blunt, when they sell my book I make very little. Authors of these kinds of books (as opposed to Harry Potter, etc) make MUCH more money by selling themselves (though nobody makes a lot of money on Arts & Crafts books). So the pre-order on my site is an attempt to keep Amazon from getting all of the early sales. That said, I'm grateful to anyone who buys my book regardless of from whom they buy it.
Thanks again.
David
Understood, David. Your strategy on pre-orders is the right approach, I'd say.
