A nice little user plane. Someone had painted the cap a blue colour. Those shavings were from a beveled top I made. The blade has a nice taper to it. Not much in the way of stamped names/numbers on it, though. Adjustor wheel is steel, not brass. Any comments?

Could be a Dunlap or Eclipse
Looks like a plane that was sold to compete with Stanley's Bailey line back in the early 20th century. Does the blade have a makers stamp on it? Probably performs as well as a Stanley but I'm not a big fan of lever caps missing the tension spring on the back.
Just an old plane
Yep, there is indeed a spring of sorts in the lever cap. It would seem that this plane was made by a company called Defiance. A nice little user plane, and I have well tuned up. I use this plane to taper all those Shaker legs I make. That pile of shavings is from beveling a table edge. The iron is very thick at the "business end', then tapers down towards the other end. Never had a chatter from the blade. Price for this user? Don't know, it was a "hand-me-down". The fellow ran a Hardware store back in the 50-60s era.
