accurate table saw sled for 45 deg cuts
I have built my crosscut sled using William Ng’s 5-cut method and it really does the job to square the fence.
I want to build a crosscut sled for 45 deg miters but want to insure that the fence is dead-on 90 deg to the blade.
Has anyone used Ng’s method to square the fence and then tilt to 45 deg for the final cut? I plan to overlay hardboard on the bed to allow my cut line to show.

Yes. I used the 5 cut method for my Incra v-27. When you then move it to 45 degrees the laser-cut indents set the gauge wonderfully. After aligning my tablesaw well and aligning my miter gauges I ditched the other miter-cut gadgets and just make picture frames and such with the miter gauge. I still use a bevel sled or a shooting board with a donkey ear for small boxes and trays.
Ooops! My bad. I am making boxes, not frames.
Yeah, I used Ng's 5 cut method when I made my 45* cross cut sled to make boxes. I dialed the blade at 45* using a digital angle finder, then made my 5 cuts just like normal. It's a little trickier to take a read with the calipers because the edges are beveled, but I was able to get it within a couple thousand.
I am not familiar it’s Ng’s 5-cut method. Can you provide a reference or link?
Thanks,
Russ
