Acrylic paint for exterior wood finish
Hi all can I use acrylic paint for painting wood then seal it with exterior varnish, would that be ok as I find the standard wood paints limited in colours.
Thanks again for any replies and help .

You can get a high quality exterior paint in literally any color you want. Just go to any paint store.
Like artist acrylics? I have this big painting hanging on my fence, it's sort of a family joke. Been there a few years but I have to touch it up,add to it, from time to time. I'll use oils or acrylics, whatever I have, varnish over or even use scotch guard to protect it. The artist paints have very limited UV tolerance. They fade out pretty quickly. Eventually the whole thing will disintegrate. As was pointed out the paint store can tint to any color and has invested lots of research into making exterior paints that will hold up to the elements. Good exterior varnish is way more expensive than paint.
