Hi everyone,
As a complete beginner, I’m trying my hardest to build a competent and stylish coffee table. My issue is to do with where the apron joins the leg. I’m concerned that if I butt the tenons that I’m planning together inside the leg (or mitre the ends) that they won’t be long enough to produce the strength I was after. Instead, I’ve modelled in Sketchup another option, but I’m not sure that this is going to provide any more strength (never mind the complexity for my negligible skills!)
Hopefully the images below show what I’m attempting. What are your thoughts kind sirs?

The above is attempting to show the dimensions of the project, the next two show the inside of the joint in more detail.

You should have no problem with crafting two conventional tenons with beveled ends which interset with one another inside the legs. Pretty typical for apron-to-leg construction. I've used it on many-a-coffee and end table.
