Advice on Getting My Nova Voyager Drill Press Back in Shape
So I’ll except my judgement on this one, but I really let my relatively new drill press get rusty. I moved during Covid, it went into storage, I didn’t coat it with anything, blah, blah, blah. I blame my wife.
Anyway, it’s been sitting in storage for at least two years now. I’m guessing Rust Free, Boeshield and steel wool are my go to here, but any other recommendations? Should I coat most of the column with lithium grease?
The quill seems to be working properly, but the grease has become a little runny. Also, the gasket between the quill and the spindle is just flopping around now and may be little dry. Probably no big deal. You can see it in the attached pictures.
Thanks for help!

I had this problem with a few machines (table saw, planer, jointer) that I neglected for a few years when I was too busy to do much woodworking. I've started getting back into it about a year ago so I wanted to rejuvenate them. I used WD-40 and an orbital sander with 400 grit wet/dry paper to remove the bulk of the rust, followed by 600 grit hand sanding. It did a pretty good job on the flat areas. I then used paste wax to add a little protection.
